CATALOG DESCRIPTION
The assessment and evaluation of physiological and psychosocial stressors of the individual are emphasized.
Prerequisites: Admission to nursing pre-major, NUR 3017; Corequisites: NUR 3145, NUR 3026C
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
· Perform a complete physical examination, utilizing techniques of observation, palpation, percussion and auscultation.
· Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings on the client’s history and physical examination.
· Assess the overall adaptation of the individual client who may be experiencing physiological and psychosocial environmental stressors within the health-illness continuum.
· Apply evidenced-based practice guidelines, research findings, nursing theories, and theories from other disciplines in the assessment of a client’s adaptation to potential and actual stressors.
· Utilize client assessment data as a base for analysis/diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in a simulated situation.
· Differentiate between normal and abnormal changes that occur throughout the life span.
