CATALOG DESCRIPTION 

Interrelationship of problem solving, decision making, change and the nursing process are explored in identifying the role of the professional nurse as research consumer.  Prerequisites: Statistics, NUR 3017.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES      

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

 

 

 

 

·         Identify research findings and evidence-based practice guidelines to formulate nursing approaches and decisions about potential and actual stressors that impact on the individual.

 

 TOPICAL OUTLINE

·         Commonalities between problem solving, decision making, nursing process and the research process.

 

·         Description of research methods

 

·         Components of the research process.

 

·         Relationship of the research process to the refinement of selected nursing theories.

 

·         Analysis of selected nursing research studies.

 

·         Application of evidenced-based guidelines and selected research studies in nursing practice.
