CATALOG DESCRIPTION 

Building upon concepts of community-based nursing introduced across the curriculum, this course integrates those concepts into a broader perspective in which the community is the client.   Prerequisites:  NUR 4455 NUR 4455L, NUR 4355, NUR 4355L; Corequisites:  NUR 4990, NUR 4945L, NUR 4940

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES      

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

        

·         Synthesize knowledge and skills from nursing and other disciplines in assisting communities as clients in a multicultural, multiethnic changing society.

 

 

·         Engage in purposeful and creative collaboration with communities as a direct-care provider, teacher-learner, collaborator, client advocate, leader, and change agent.

 

·         Critically analyze and synthesize evidence-based practice guidelines, theories and research findings from nursing and related disciplines as a basis in formulating nursing approaches and decisions for assisting communities.

 

·         Apply the nursing process to assist communities to adapt to potential and actual stressors in health promotion, maintenance, restoration, and rehabilitation.
