CATALOG DESCRIPTION
Transition from student to professional nursing roles through a leadership experience in a selected clinical setting that allows synthesis of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Prerequisite: Completion of all clinical nursing courses
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
· Synthesize antecedent knowledge in assessing psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and spiritual adaptive dimensions that impact selected individuals, families, and communities as clients who are experiencing potential and actual environmental stressors.
· Apply nursing theories and theories from other disciplines as a basis for holistic nursing practice in the care of individuals, families, and communities.
· Use evidence-based practice guidelines and research findings to formulate nursing approaches and decisions about potential and actual stressors that impact on individuals, families, and communities.
· Apply the nursing process to assist the individuals, families, and communities in adapting to potential and actual physiological environmental stressors in health promotion, maintenance, restoration, rehabilitation, and/or end-of-life care.
· Collaborate with clients and the interdisciplinary team in designing, managing, and coordinating care of individuals and families within communities.
· Analyze knowledge of social, economic, political, legal forces and ethical considerations in the care of individuals, families, and communities as they pertain to nursing practice.

· Implementation of professional nursing roles
· Application of selected theories, evidence-based guidelines, and research in nursing and related disciplines for assisting clients throughout the life span
· Use of the nursing process in assisting clients throughout the life span
· Management of care of aggregate clients
TEACHING STRATEGIES
Precepted clinical practice with individuals and/or families in selected settings, preparation of individualized goals and objectives, clinical conferences, audiovisual aids, written assignments

Clinical evaluation by self, preceptor and faculty, clinical conference participation, written assignments, clinical project
