CATALOG DESCRIPTION
The role of the professional nurse is explored in applying the nursing process in assisting individuals and/or families with adaptation to potential and actual stressors. Prerequisite: Department permission.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Discuss selected theories of
communication that explain individual and group interactions.
Define professional nursing using knowledge from class discussion and review
of existing literature.
Apply theoretical
knowledge of self-concept development, spirituality, sexuality, and stress
and coping in the nursing care of clients with potential and actual
environmental stressors.
Demonstrate the ability to develop a
nursing process paper with selected appropriate
nursing diagnoses based on a relevant database.
Develop the ability to complete a
family assessment based on selected theories.
Collaborate with other health care
providers to assist the client (individual and/or family) with potential and
actual environmental stressors.
