MSN (NP/CNS) Admission Evaluation Matrix

Administrators and faculty of the CNHS use an evaluation matrix to evaluate applicants (See below for the criteria and assigned points).  NOTE:  The evaluation matrix below DOES NOT apply to Anesthesiology Nursing applicants.  See admission requirements on the Anesthesiology Nursing Website.

The admission evaluation matrix is weighted in percentage of the total for the following categories (Category #2 has two (2) options):
 

  • ADMISSION CRITERIA

    (1) Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) (Must be at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale). 25%
    (2)
    OPTION #1: Undergraduate GPA (Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology)

    OR

    OPTION #2: GRE Combined (Verbal + Math)

    25%
    (3) Clinical nursing experience and leadership (work record, references, essay, interview) 20%
    (4) Experience and service with diverse populations (essay, references, interview) 10%
    (5) Motivation and potential for success in program (references, interview) 12%
    (6) Scholarship such as papers, presentations in conferences, research participation (essay, references, interview) 8%

NOTE:  50 POINTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION

Applicants who do not meet the stated requirements for graduate admission MUST petition the Graduate Program (NP/CNS) Admissions Committee.  Contact the Office of the Director of Admissions and Student Services for procedure.
