The
College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a graduate program of study
leading to the degree of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The MSN program was
approved by the Board of Regents of the State University System (SUS) in 1992.
Nursing programs of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences are accredited by
the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), (61
Broadway, New York, NY 10006, 1-800-669-1656 X153), the Council on
Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (222 S. Prospect
Ave., Suite 304, Park Ridge, IL 60068, 847-692-7050), and approved by the
Florida State Board of Nursing, (4052 Bald Cypress Way, BIN CO2,
Tallahassee, FL 32399, 850-245-4125).
The MSN program is designed to prepare qualified professional nurses for advanced
nursing roles in the care and management of adults and children. The program
offers clinical concentration in Adult Health Nursing, Anesthesiology
Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Family Health Nursing, Nurse Executive and
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
Throughout the curriculum, students are guided in the process of
self-development to pursue excellence in professional and scholarly endeavors.
With the exception of the Anesthesiology Nursing track, the program allows
flexibility within the basic curricular structure through individualized
learning experiences and electives, and the opportunity to investigate an area
of interest in advanced study.
Whereas the Anesthesia Nursing track is a full-time
lock-step program, the curriculum model of the other tracks allows students to
enroll in full-time or part-time studies. The duration for each student’s study
plan is determined in consultation with a faculty advisor and is based on the
student’s background and professional goals. The program can be completed in
four semesters of full-time study with a load of 9-12 credits per semester.
Part-time study can be completed in variable times but is not to exceed six
years. The Anesthesiology Nursing track extends over seven semesters of
full-time study with a semester load of 12-18 credits.

national certification or by some other regulatory body changes that then must
be reflected in the curriculum and programs so that students can meet the
minimum requirements for to qualify for licensure and/or be prepared for
certification by various accrediting and certifying bodies. The College will
make every effort to notify students that such changes have occurred and how
